LIVER FUNCTION TEST

A Liver Function Test (LFT) is a group of blood tests used to evaluate the health and functioning of the liver. These tests measure the levels of enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin in the blood to detect liver inflammation, infection, damage, or disease. Common parameters included in an LFT are ALT, AST, ALP, bilirubin, albumin, and total protein. Doctors commonly recommend liver function tests for patients with jaundice, abdominal pain, fatty liver disease, hepatitis, excessive alcohol consumption, or while monitoring the effects of certain medications.
